Lachie’s Walk 2024

The Lachlan McLaren Foundation wish to thank our extraordinary community for their incredible support of the inaugural Lachie's Walk event on Sunday 11th August 2024.

We are very proud to announce that Lachie's Walk raised a huge $28,000 to support the amazing work of Amber Community and other initiatives in our local area.

It was a special day, bringing together a community to unite in support and kindness to raise money for an important cause and to honour the memory of Lachie, a young man taken from this world far too soon.

The sun was shining and our spectacular Mentone/Parkdale foreshore as 450 walkers, wearing red to honour Lachie, walked our beautiful beach path. Many people stopped to place a red flower on Lachie's memorial seat opposite Seagull Rock. This was a beautiful and moving display of the power of community in coming together to show so much love and compassion for the loss of a promising young man taken in such incomprehensible tragic circumstances. It is evident to all that beyond Lachie's family and friends there is a community also deeply affected by this tragedy. Lachie's family wish to acknowledge everyone who stopped to place a flower on Lachie's his seat, for showing such respect and compassion. These images bring much comfort to his family knowing he will never be forgotten.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in supporting us and Lachie's Foundation. We are so grateful for all the love and support for this initiative to do something positive in Lachie’s memory. Through his legacy he continues to help others and make an impact in this world.

We look forward to many more walks in the future. The power of our community will change lives!

Much love from Carey, Michelle & Luis McLaren.
